Get the Right Bar Stool Design

Not just restricted to the home bar, adding a special design touch to your breakfast bar, kitchen island, game room, or den can be found in a pair of bar stools. Of course, there is a wide selection of bar stools available nowadays, so  you can use the following guide to selecting your proper bar stools.

Bar Stool Types

First things first – determine what type of bar stool works best for your living space. Decide from these different kinds:

Swivel Bar Stools:

These stools allow you to move more freely while seated.

Backless:

A more versatile stool, since you can face any way you want without having to turn your chair.

Kitchen:

Their height and style is more suited to a kitchen island or breakfast bar.

Counter:

The best option for bar counters, as their look and size “fits the bar”.

Bar Stool Sizes

There isn’t one standard stool size – they come in diverse widths, and more importantly, heights. You’ll need different sizes depending on where you’d like your stools to go.

Short:

These stools can be considered for extra seating, indoors and out.

Extra tall:

Perfect for those bars and counter spaces that other stools just couldn’t seem to reach.

Adjustable height:

Since people are all different heights, an adjustable bar stool is a practical idea for seating guests.

Bar height:

Just right for the bar!

Counter height:

A good option if you’re looking for counter space seating.

Bar Stool Styles

Choose your bar stools around the design style in your home. No matter what your style is, there’s a variety of stools out there that match your taste. Here are some popular decor examples:

Modern:

Sleek, clean, practical. Modern style in a nutshell.

Contemporary:

Soft, minimally detailed, and slightly curved is the best way to describe contemporary.

Country:

Old-fashioned and down to earth represents country style.

Traditional:

This style is antique, classical, and impeccably detailed.

Casual:

For homes with an informal, relaxed feel.

Bar Stool Materials

When selecting a bar stool based on material, try not to choose one with fabric. Since you’ll be eating and drinking in these seats, you’ll want your stools to be made of a something that you can easily wipe stains off. Fabric has the ability to absorb food and drink, so choose from these stain-resisting materials:

Wood:

For a classic bar stool look, opt for wood.

Metal:

An inexpensive, yet stylish material choice.

Wrought Iron:

If you want a flawlessly detailed bar stool, wrought iron gives off a regal flair.

Aluminium:

Hip and innovative, more and more stools are being manufactured with rust-proof aluminium.

Leather:

Want a timeless bar stool that will last a lifetime? Go with leather!

I totally love the bar stools and island kitchen but I am moving into a one bedroom rental apt soon that has a

very small kitchen. It has a very tiny kitchen and one small rectangular hole in the wall where maybe I can put one barstool. I am wondering if you could give me ideas about what can I do in terms of furniture so that I can get a similar effect. Thanks

By not knowing what the space looks like it's hard to say but here are a few small kitchen tips: If you don't have a window put up a mirror (maybe one with a design painted on it), use a pot rack ( even a small one gives more space and a cool look), get a large butcher block (you can store it over your sink (like a cover for more counter top space).
As to the island and the hole in the wall you can add a piece of finished wood to the bottom of the opening ( so that it sticks out a little on each side) and then brace on either side with L brackets (leaves only a few small holes) pull up a bar stool and you are ready to eat!
