What are the benfits of a 64 bit processor?
Thinking of getting an AMD ahtlon dual core 64 bit. Do I HAVE to have a 64bit (x64) vertsion of Windows and will it cause any conflicts between all my existing applications??

Forgot to mention - Could I run a 32 bit version of windows like the standard XP pro?
You should be able to run 32-bit Windows, but you won't get the benefits of the 64-bit. For that, you need to have 64-bit OS and software. If you use 64-bit Windows, you will need 64-bit drivers though.
I'd recommend getting a 64-bit capable processor to future-proof your system, but using 32-bit OS at the moment. There aren't many 64-bit apps (or drivers) out yet.
