Countertop Edge
Countertops are categorized based on their edges
Countertops can be differentiated based on their edge because their rim varies from time to time. Kitchen countertops can be found with a simple cut to a multi-cut edge. Whether you are constructing a new home or remodeling your kitchen, tiles are one of the essential things to décor the place. If you are planning to change the old tiles and buying new one then you have to spend some time to choose the best durable design because beautiful design of the countertop increases value of your home.
It is not easy to pick up new countertop because you have to see various aspects such as quality of the product, color, design, shape, size and many more. So your decision to buy tiles doesn't stop only with the quality of the product and types of color you want. Edges and their various styles are also one important factor that you should consider while choosing countertop. Tiles can be categories based on the edges, there are three different types of rims available: Rounded, Squared and Custom.
Rounded Edges:
This edge style provides a shiny, flowing appearance to a kitchen countertop. Bullnose rim and Demi-Bullnose frame that is also well-known as a semi round border are comes under these kinds of rounded rims. A Bullnose frame is fully rounded but it usually looks like an arc from its side view. Whereas a Demi-Bullnose circumference is curved from it peak but then goes down into a plane border with a corner at the bottom.
Squared Edges:
Tiles rim with squared style can be seen commonly among several homes. This style generally gives good result with any type of kitchen decoration. You can pick up an absolute squared border that has single cut and it is much easier to make this style than various cuts on one edge.
You also have option to select a bevel cut that also include straight lines but it has two cuts. There will be one straight up cut next to the face of the edge and a subsequent engrave diagonal from the face to the top of the countertop. The second cut of this style generally removes the top corner of a natural squared border.
Custom Edges:
Normally, these types of custom borders are much complicated than others because they include extra cuts in them. Custom rim have a tendency to include various different edge styles. These types of frames incorporate an Ogee cut that looks similar to an inclined S curve. Twofold Ogee hacks include two slanted S curves. Cove DuPont rims also seem just like a slanted S curvature but they have a minute squared segment in the center. This design has a bowl-shaped segment chased by a 90° instant drop and after that a curved section that comes away of the line to complete the border.

How important is cost?
I was just looking into this recently and one of the ladies pointed out that liquid will follow the edge till it stops.....then it will drip. So if your counters curve all the way under, anything you spill will be running into your drawers. So that was a factor. My house is older and when I moved in it had beveled edges with mauve and grey Formica....so when I think bevel, I can't get that image out of my head....I wasn't replacing my cabinets and was on a budget....so I'm going with replacing all my hardware on my cabinets and getting the counter tops they sell in pieces at Lowe's. It's cheaper and the colors are just as nice as the ordering them custom and I found a handyman in town who will install them....I hope it works out...
