What's the best type drill bit for bone and cartilage?
I am working on a medium-scale mixed-media installation piece for exhibition at a church arts festival in late May.
I am working, principally in bone, cartilage, hair and toe-nail clippings but intend to run 4mm diameter strands of woven cooked spaghetti through pivotal segments of bone and sinew before spraying the whole piece silver.
So far, the bone has simply shattered when I've tried to drill the holes and sourcing replacement material is both exhausting and risky.
Does anyone who's worked with bones before know what sort of drill bit would give me a good clean hole without chipping or breakage?

An old acquaintance of mine, Slasher McGurk, used to say that a 6 inch masonry nail was very effective for nailing people's heads to the snooker table but you must remember that he was not necessarily concerned with the aesthetics of presentation.
Personally I think a good screw in the bone and toe-nails cannot be beaten.
