is the 2011 macbook pro 15 inch base model powerful enough to play crysis?
Im talking about the one that costs $1799 and has the 2gz i7 quad core and the AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5
Well, The graphics card is quit powerful. However, Don't expect it to run High/Ultra settings. In my opinion for it to be playable with the amount of video memory and the 6490 would probably be somewhere between low/medium max settings. Personally it should be at low settings so it doesn't lag and so heat doesn't become an issue. Below I've included graphic benchmarks/charts on the 6490M. In my opinion if you can spend the extra money on the MacBook Pro 15" with the 6750M and faster i7 Crysis would probably be playable at Medium/High settings.
