Installing New Home Carpet With DIY Tips

If you're considering doing a DIY project to replace your home carpet, there are some concerns which you may not have to worry about. Few people worry about the way to get the old carpet out because it'll be so heavy when rolled up and takes at the least 2 strong people to lift it. Well, unless you have another place to relay the carpet and need it to be the full size, you can simply cut it in smaller pieces and carry each one out with ease.

Considering the amount of dirt which makes its way through the carpet it may be a good idea to include replacing the underlay along with buying new carpet. This padding serves many purposes that include insulation and sound proofing. One might not consider that insulation is necessary in the warmer months, but it is proven that a carpeted house uses less electricity to keep it both warm and cool. If this underlay has become flattened, it's time to replace it.

Most of the rental businesses have tools for laying carpet and you can rent knee kicker and seam roller for a reasonable amount of cash. The other tools that will be required are ones you likely have around the home. 1 measuring tape, utility knife and claw hammer for prying up the carpet would come in very handy. Few individuals like to have a chalk line, work gloves, safety glasses and knee pads to protect their knees.

With buying the new carpet and underlay, you would even need sufficient Tackless strips to replace those which were used by the previous carpet. Most times it's better to replace these as they could become too damaged from furniture and other heavy objects having flattened out the tacks. This could also mean buying some smaller nails or carpeting tacks to secure the Tackless strips to the flooring.

Begin by pulling up the old carpet and underlay and removing them to the outdoors. To get a head start on household cleaning, go ahead and clean the flooring where the new carpet would be put in. This gets up residual dirt and even ensuring all nails or tacks are removed out of the way for the new carpeting. Then begin placing the underlay just to the edge of the tackless strips and once they are stapled into place determine the 'grain' of the new carpet so that you could position it for the least quantity of slippage from household traffic.

Then roll out the new carpet and use the utility knife to cut near the wall so that your baseboards would over the rough edges and hide them from view. Use the knee kicker to get the carpet properly placed and secured onto the new tackless strips. Keep stretching the carpet as you go until you have covered the area to be carpeted. When the carpet is in place, go around the walls with the baseboard and put them back where they were initially set up.

Must there be any wreckage on the carpet from its transportation to your home, sweep it clean and then shift the furniture back into place. Take all the scraps of carpet and pieces of tackless strips to the proper disposal facility and then stand back and admire your work. Pat yourself on the shoulder for a job well done in a DIY project of replacing your Home Carpet.

What kind of amp should I get for my single Solo Baric Kicker VS12L7 12" subwoofer 4 Ohm?

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer. I want to put one Solo Baric Kicker VS12L7 12" sub woofer (4 Ohm) in it. I have no idea what amp to get.

features of sub woofer:

ported hatchback-style enclosure with one 12" Solo-Baric L7 subwoofer
3/4" medium density fiberboard construction covered with gray and black carpet
4-ohm total impedance
Recommended power: 50-750 watts RMS (1,500 watts peak power)
Frequency response: 20-100 Hz
Sensitivity: 88.6 dB
18-3/4"W x 16"H x 18"D1 x 14-11/16"D2
i didn't buy it yet. i also have the choice of 2 ohm sub....
i'm willing to bridge a 2 channel amp...

the issue here is you have a 4 ohm impedance to work with. The zx750.1 would only give you 375w. It might be more cost effective to look for a big 2 ch amp that will bridge to 500-800w.

However, if I were you I would pull the sub out of the box and see if you can rewire it for 1 ohm. CHances are it's a dvc 2 wired in series for 4 ohms. You should be able to rewire it parallel for 1.
There are a lot of good quality amps that are around 1000w rms at 1 ohm in the $200-250 range.
