Adhesive Measuring Tape: Uses, Benefits, and Styles
There are many uses for adhesive measuring tape. In the home, one could be placed in a child's bedroom to measure her height. In the workshop, one could be placed on the workbench or desk and be used to measure materials for crafting. Outside, it could be used on plant stakes to measure the height of plants. One could also be placed on the deck of a boat, to measure the size of caught fish.
This type of measuring tape has the major benefit of staying in place.
It won't slide when you are measuring your materials like regular rulers and tape measures will. You also don't have to worry about rolling it back up, like roll tape measures or having it retract accidentally, like box tape measurers.
There are several styles of adhesive measuring tape. First you have to decide which unit you want to measure in as the tape comes in English Standard and Metric units of measurement (Inches or Centimeters, respectively). It is also possible to find tape with centimeters on one side and inches on the other.
You may also choose if you want tape that measures from left-to-right or right-to-left. There is also the option of horizontally or vertically oriented tape.
After that, you must decide which scale you would like to use. There are adhesive measuring tapes that measure to the whole inch all the way down to tapes that measure to 1/32 of an inch. In metric, there are tapes that measure from the whole centimeter all the way down to the millimeter.
To be cost effective when buying measuring tape, you must decide how much of it that you need. First, decide the purpose of the tape. What will you be using it for and where will it be going?
Next, use a tape measure to measure the area where you will be placing the tape and record the measurement.
After that, look for a tape close to the size you need when you go to a paint or hardware store. You could also check painting or hardware websites. Many places will cut you a custom length of tape. If you need a lot of tape for a big job, you can also buy a box of measuring tape rolls.
Adhesive measuring tape can be ideal for a variety of uses. It comes in both of the major measuring units and can be cut to any length you desire. It can be used for indoor and outdoor projects and will stay in place to facilitate measurement. You can have it vertically oriented for measuring height, or horizontally oriented for measuring width or length.
The only thing left to consider is how much you need. Is your project big or small? How precise to you need to be with the measurements that you are using your tape? Do you need only a short length, or enough to cover a large perimeter?

On a roll of measuring tape there is a black diamond every 19 3/16 inches. What does this diamond signify?
