How Inventors Shape Our Lives Everyday

After breakfast, they leave for work after getting their cell phone and use the key on their key chain to lock the back door. So what does an iron board, air conditioner, hair brush, refrigerator, egg beater, cell phone key chain and lock have in common? All of those just mentioned products were created by African-Americans.

This article will focus on African-American Inventors who made products that we used almost every single day. These inventors created some amazing products that a lot of people didn't know, but sadly in the era of Jim Crow, they never received the credit or for that matter reap in the fortune that they richly deserve. In some case, these inventors created the product and without providing a patent for their invention, told people about their new creation. Since the product was not patented, these people would go somewhere to steal... I mean...make their own product, slap their name on it and gain instant fame. While doing research in this topic, it is truly amazing to find out that each inventor made their product with very primitive material, unlike the technology that we have in today's world.

Here's the list of each inventor and their creation. You will be surprised by what is on the list!

About the Author

can someone help me with homework?

here are my homework questions i am stuck on:
1. peter has twice as many stickers as david. how many stickers must matthew give david so that they each will have 120 stickers?
2. ryan bought 3 books and a magazine. he paid $30 to the cashier and recieved $5 change. if the magazine cost twice as much as each book, find the cost of the magazine.
3. john and paul spent$45 altogether. john and henry spent $65 altogether. if henry spent 3 times as much as pail, how much did john spend?
on 3. i meant paul, not pail.

1. So Matthew is a third party who's just standing around handing out stickers? If so, Peter must already have 120 stickers, because he isn't giving any up, so if David has half as many, David has 120 / 2, or 60 stickers. So, the difference is 120 - 60, or 60 stickers, and Matthew needs to give David 60 stickers.

2. Ryan paid $30 and got $5 change, so he spent $30 - $5, or $25. If the magazine cost twice as much as each book, and if we call B the price of a book, then he paid 3 * B for three books, and 2 * B for one magazine, for a total of 5 * B. So, 5 * B = $25, so B = $5. That means each book cost $5, but the magazine cost twice as much as a book, so 2 * $5, or $10.

3. J is what John spent, P is what Paul spent, and H is what Henry spent. So we know:
J + P = 45
J + H = 65
H = 3 * P

So substitute 3 * P for H in the second equation:
J + 3 * P = 65
So, J = 65 - 3 * P
From the first equation:
J = 45 - P
So, 45 - P = 65 - 3 * P
Solve for P.
2 * P = 20
P = 10
Now substitute 10 for P in the first equation and solve for J.
J + P = 45
J + 10 = 45
J = 35

So John spent $35.
