STATISTICS: Motorola and HTC Android smartphone power to lead the U.S., beating RIM and iPhone
press by the American stat-gatherers NPD Group says the Android OS was 33% of all smartphones sold in the U.S. Q2 2010, thanks to the rampant sale of such HTC and Motorola.
Android Consortium figures show a series of overtaking RIM BlackBerry sales, RIMs share market fell by 9% compared to the previous period. NPD says Android accounted for 33% of sales in Q2 smartphone, RIM had 28%, while a series of Apples iPhone was sitting on 22%.

Port Washington, NEW YORK, August 4, 2010 on the wave of the introduction of new handset and the wide distribution of the carrier in the second quarter(Q2), Android smartphone operating system(OS) has increased to climb in U.S. consumer mobile market phone, according to NPD Group, a leading market research firm. For the first time since the fourth quarter(Q4) of 2007, RIM slipped to second place and took the lead among the Android operating system on phones sold to consumers the United States. NPD latest wireless market research shows that 33 percent of Android were all smartphones purchased in Q2, before RIM(28 percent) and Apple(22 percent).
For the second consecutive quarter, Android phones revealed strong slowdown in sales, but by increasing the market share of U.S. consumers, said Ross Rubin, director of industry analysis at NPD. While the Google-developed OS took market share from RIM, Apple IOS saw a small profit in the quarter under iPhone 4 release.
Based on the U.S. consumer purchases of mobile phones in Q2, Android smartphones top 5 were as follows:

Blackberry 6 will soon offer features that were popular in the recent Android phones, such as support for capacitive touch screens, and browsers based on WebKit. But there is no Blackberry Torch large charm of the screen, which is characterized by Android is the best marketing in its price, including Droid Incredible and EVO 4G, said Rubin.
Choose a model and promotions continue to play a role in the race for dominance of the carrier. According to the NPD in a Mobile Phone Track, Verizon Wireless maintains its lead among the largest carriers in the last three quarters consisting of a third(33 percent) of units sold in the U.S. mobile phone market in Q2, followed by AT T(25 percent), Sprint(12 percent) and T-Mobile(11 percent). In Q2, Verizon Wireless continued its buy-one-get-one(Bogo) offers on all smartphones, including models of both RIM and Android.
Despite the overall decline in the number of mobile phones purchased from year to year, the ongoing popularity of the two phones and smartphones messages, which are usually more expensive than standard cellular phones, in a slightly higher price for all mobile phones Q2. The average selling price for all mobile phones has reached $90, which represents 3 percent increase from Q2 last year. Smartphone unit prices, for comparison, an average of $143 in Q2 2010, which is a decrease of 9 percent compared with the previous year.
