The EU survey "Batteries Directive" in the implementation
EU Official Journal "on November 27, 2009, the European Commission issued a resolution No. 2006/66/EC on the number" Batteries Directive "was the implementation of Member States to conduct a questionnaire survey. Survey results from the European Commission will be presented to determine the effectiveness of existing measures and as a reference for future policy formulation.
European Commission requires Member States to provide information on various issues, including:
• "Battery Directive" into domestic law;
• batteries and recycling targets for batteries, and if it had already reached;
• The existing batteries and battery handling and recycling measures;
• funding agreements and to ensure that all waste batteries and battery recycling, treatment and recycling work funded by the manufacturers to take responsibility for actions taken. • Monitoring and enforcement actions, including the control number of cases in contravention of the regulations, as well as contraventions of the regulations if the product is removed from the market.
"Battery Directive" from the September 26, 2008 began with all members of national execution. Responsibilities under the directive applies to all cell types, including consumer products, industrial uses or a car battery attached. Directive since September 26, 2008 prohibits the following batteries sold in the market:
• having or not the batteries and inside the battery, their mercury content by weight more than 0.0005% (mercury content below 2% by weight of the battery, except New Zealand);
• batteries and accumulators, including electrical appliances inside the battery fitted in their mercury content by weight more than 0,002% (in case of emergency and alarm systems, medical equipment, with or without a son, portable power tools except batteries).
To ensure that the majority of waste batteries and accumulators were recycling, Member States shall take all necessary measures (including economic instruments), to promote and optimize the implementation of waste separation and collection, and avoid waste batteries and accumulators, waste not classified. The Directive also requires Member States to end users in the neighboring localities batteries and recycling batteries, manufacturers should also be free collection of batteries and accumulators.
