How do I connect tubing to a closed pipe?
Odd question but let me explain. Let's say I have a pvc pipe and it's 5cm in diameter. It's capped on the top and bottom so it's closed. I want to connect a flexible piece of aquarium tubing to the top and bottom of this pipe, and the tubing is, say, 5mm in diameter. Let's also assume that water is going to be moving through these tubes and pipes so it has to be water tight.
First I'd drill a hole in the bottom of the closed pipe. Then what? Is there a particular way this should be done? I can imagine several ways how it should be done, but have no idea where to get the parts to do this.
Any ideas?
Chose tubing compatible with the adhesive and drill slightly over size holes to have adhesive all the way around and apply and hold in position - like with tape - until set. Silicone adhesive or epoxy.

Drill the PVC pipe with the proper sized drill and tap for 1/8" water pipe thread then screw in a pipe to barb adaptor and push the tubing over the barb. Like these http://www.holley.com/types/Hose%20Barb%20to%20Pipe%20Thread%20Adapters.asp but adapt to size of tubing - smaller are available.
