termite question. is it safe for me to place wood chips/mulch next to my house if the foundation is 2' high?

what are the chances that they will crawl up the wall to get into my house? the sideing is about 2' off the ground and i just had the wall tuck pointed so alot of the entry ways are closed. about a 4'section will butt against the house and then move towards the sidewalk. i also have a very large concrete step it will be running along for five feet. i wanted to plant some hostas and a few perrenials in the corner of the foundation and front step. and then lay down some sort of bark or mulch. but i am worried about any chance of termites.

You always want to have at least three clear inches of your slab / brick work visible...

Termites will build a little mud tunnel up the outside of the concrete and get into the house that way. Be Very vigilant if you are putting mulch or wood chips up that close to your house.

You should also be aware that they can crawl up in the crack between two slabs poured separately (ie house slab and steps) And once they get in they could find somewhere nice and cozy and eat you out of your home.

For mine, I wouldn't take any risks. Get professional advice from a reputable local pest inspector and walk around the house every month to check the perimeter for those little mud tunnels.
