Farm Tractors and Their Uses
A common tractor is the backhoe loader or the "digger." This type of tractor has a swiveling seat to the rear with hoe controls. Backhoe loaders can do a myriad of tasks such as construction, digging holes, loading trucks, small demolitions and cracking asphalt for paving roads. The backhoe is a very versatile and useful tractor because of its size. While the bulldozer may not be a farm tractor, it can be used to push or drag things and may come in handy on the large or commercial farm. The loader tractor is another powerful tractor that can have a large volume bucket and hydraulic arms attached to it. It can be used to scoop up large amounts of soil and rock to be loaded into trucks. For growing crops, the row-crop tractor is a needful tractor to have. Another very interesting and helpful farm tractor is the compact utility tractor. This tractor is smaller than the agricultural tractor but is primarily made for landscaping and maintenance rather than for commercial planting and harvesting.
